Cebu Dakwah Outreach: Beginning 2023, BBM WPKL has expanded its outreach program to international level through conducting and managing dakwah activities in Camotes Islands, Cebu, Philippines. Alhamdulillah, there are approximately 5,000 people reverted to Islam in recent years, owing to the concerted dakwah activities spearheaded by our President Dato’ Dr Abdul Razak. The total population in the Camotes islands is about 110,000, hence Muslim is still a minority. Today, there are seven Islamic Centres, of which five were opened in the last two years.
Our responsibility is to provide financial support for the operation of each Centre, which include paying the allowances for the ustaz / daei / caretaker, operating expenses (utilities, building / facilities maintenance, incidentals) and incentives for the jemaah to attend religious /dakwah classes. We also provide books, tools and training materials for the daei/ustaz to enhance their skills/knowledge for an effective dakwah, and promoting / supporting socio-economic activities for long term sustainability. In addition, BBM also jointly finance the construction / renovation / maintenance of the acquired Centres, including possibility a providing a dedicated Muslim cemetery. BBM team made many periodic visits to gather first-hand information on issues, challenges and opportunities on the overall dakwah program, and overseeing certain project implementation, or conducting specific activities, such as qurban implementation and workshops.
The operating cost (Opex) is approximately RM2,500 – 4,000 per month for each Centre, depending on its size and activities. The annual budgetary estimate, including projects, is about RM250,000 – 500,000.
